Let’s Go Music Festival Day 2

Day 2 at The Let’s go Music Festival did not disappoint. With headlining bands We are Scientist, LIT, The Airborne Toxic Event, Silver Sun Pickups and 311, the performances were non-stop, as the musical energy kept coming in waves. Another musical plus included the exposure of Local bands who benefited from the Festivals 2nd stage such as Julien Ewald, Soundwaves & All you Need. So as for my impressions on the Headlining bands, let’s begin with

We are scientist.
They were incredibly energetic, strong and fluid as a main stage opening band. The kind of band that as photographer, I found challenging to capture with the bands constant movement. Keith Murray’s vocal strength, & Chris Cain’s backup harmony was a real plus.

Lit was similarly strong & active, with Ajay’s energy & strong expressive stage presence, easily going over their allowed performance time sharing many of their best songs, including their new one called “The Life That I Got” and a cover written by the Cars
The Airborne Toxic Event
Added nicely to the Festivals musical variety, with a more indie sound as the played some of their best songs along with a couple covers. Their is no doubt that this band has a deep rooted fan base, notably Mimi Peschet’s violin performance was a nice Touch, adding a warmth to much of their music

SilverSun Pickups
Was the band I secretly looked forward to the most to hear & see if they lived up to the hype and the truth is, they Did. The chemistry between Brian Aubert and Nikki Monninger on stage is undeniable. They are both constantly aware of each other on stage and the drummer is very underrated. Loved their energy as they kept the audience engaged.

Cold war kids
Brought a very interesting element of sound to the afternoon lineup. They were probably the most soulful band, providing a unique style of sound and contrast to the other performances of the day. Nathan Willet has all the elements of a gospel and Rock singer in one, at times reminding me of a mature George Michael in his vocal strength and style. I really enjoyed their soulful and funky performance.

311
Well what can you say about a band that was breaking musical ground back in the 90s and is (according to guitarists Tim Mahoney) Still working hard at “Making it”. The band was a perfect fit to end the evening as they could claim the most fans that night. Nick Hexum on vocals still sells the craft and the image perfectly with a flamboyant and passionate vocal presentation as does Mahoney on guitar & S.A. Martinez on back up vocals, but the show is Hexum. The band showcased all of their best know hits and it was a triumphant success in my opinion.
